Tweets in Japan

I am still new in Tweeting, and I only follow 49 people, mostly Japanese.

For a week or two, most of tweets are about radiation concerns from 311.
What shocked me most was the information about an abnormal growth of plants throughout Japan.
Once he tweeted about this blog, many people tweeted that they have seen huge cabbages, lettuce, etc, even in Tokyo.
There were once a lot of tweets about sudden death in places not very close to Fukushima.
At first I too thought it may be connected to the radiation, but sudden death may have been happening every year anywhere, and it's just came to people's attention because of the radiation concern, and this could only be coincidental. Then again, it may be connected to the 311.

One thing I can tell from these tweets are that Japanese people are concerned, angry, frightened, but trying their best to do something for their family.

update of my latest crafts

This is the mobile phone pouch I made for Zelkova's daughter.

It has a zipper pocket for coins at the back.

You can detach the strap and carry it in your bag as well.

It has a pocket under the lid for smart rider card.

This is the new type of my original granny boston bag.

It has a gathered pockets on both sides with a flap.

You can use the flap to attach the long strap.

I have also made few wrap skirts and tunics using Japanese fabrics
and other cotton fabrics.

The brown fabric with turnip is the "tenugui" I got from Japan.
It's the traditional item which was used from Edo period.
Tenugui is used by the common people to wipe hands,
face, body, to wrap it around the head, neck, etc.
It comes in many different type of unique prints.

handy ipad2 cover

This is the ipad2 cover I was asked to make by my husband.
He bought 3 ipad2s for his Japanese class at his high school.
(Lucky kids!)

This is the prototype, and I put a pocket at the back of the lid just to see how it fits.
My husband didn't like the pocket so I won't put it on the others.
Ipad2 is fixed to the base by elastic bands on 4 corners.

There's a pocket beneath the base like this.
This is the request made by my husband.
What you do with this pocket is ...

Take your pen case like this one, and

put it inside the pocket like this, and ..

Ta daa!
The ipad tilts in an angle that's just right for you to use!

You can leave the pen case in the pocket and carry it together with the ipad like this!

This is the girly type with a cute Japanese print.

I've used this nice blue green for the inside.

This is the last one, and I've used this traditional Japanese fish character fabric

and matched it with the traditional square print.

Very original ipad2 cases for you!

Hand made sewing box

Sorry for not updating my blog for a long time!
I've been busy making things for my web shop.
This box is one of my work which I will be selling in the shop.
This is a sewing box I have made with Cartonnage technique.

This leather handle is an offcuts I bought at Freo.
It matches well with the Liberty patchwork!

The front looks like this, and when you open it...

Tadaa!  It's a sewing box with a elastic pockets on the back of the lid!

The bottom part is a drawer to store your sewing tools!

It will easily store 1000m thread too!
Size: W 19cm, H 10cm, D 14cm

sample picture of the size in my hand.

natural casual bag

Just finished making this natural patch bag.
I've used linen and cotton print fabrics, and added embroidery and sashiko stitches as an accent.

The bag is on auction Japan from today.
