purse making

I have decided to join Sachiyo to sell small items at the Japanese "bunkasai" (culture show?).
It will be at City Beach Japanese school on 7th Nov.

This is the bag type purse.  I haven't finished the inside yet.

This will be the new type of purse, with a lid.

new purse bag

I am now designing this new purse bag.
The bag itself was designed long time ago and been sold to Japanese market,
but I have never made one with the sashiko design before.

The back pocket will have the sashiko design as well.

my new webpage

To summarise all bags that I have made for Ulala, I have created a new webpage with all the pictures.
For those bags I still have in stock, I am willing to sell them to anyone who wants it.
Please contact me from the contact noted at the bottom of the webpage.

my thought from the show

The Ulala show had been a very good experience for me.
It's true that we couldn't manage to attract many people to come and that most people who came were our friends.  However, there's always something positive to come with every experience.
I learned that there are quite many Japanese "crafters" in Perth, and found 2 that are of same age as me.
With the bags, people expected me to have the bags in shops somewhere, and when I told them that I don't, they insisted that I do, and that was very encouraging comment!

I was encouraged at first, but as time goes by, the passion has faded away, and now, I have settled down to make different type of bags for Japanese clients again.
The design of the bag I make for Japanese market is so different, it took me 2,3 days to reset my brain.
I am going to clear up the requested bags first, and then start from there.
I will put bags that didn't sell at the show into Etsy, one daily.  Hope Etsy can help me boost my passion to make these sashiko bags again.

2 more new bags for the show

Just finished the big black bag.

There's one zipper pocket at the back.

The inside fabric is Japanese print, and has one zipper pocket.

This is the second bag I finished making yesterday.
It's a simple small granny bag.

Different design for the other side.

Beautiful Japanese fabric for the inside.

small shoulder bag

This is the smaller size of the shoulder bag.
I used many different vivid colour fabrics all over to make it fun!

This is the back side of the bag.

This side pocket has 2cm depth, to allow more room.

Despite the narrowness of the side, it will fit mobile phone easily.

I have used a Japanese fabric inside, and has 2 pockets.
There is one pocket at the front below the flap.

New square bags

Here is the grey one.

One zipper pocket at the back.

2 pockets and one zipper pocket inside.
I used a unique Japanese print fabric.

Second one is the linen one.

One zipper pocket at the back.

Nice navy blue Japanese fabric inside.

Sashiko and sashiko

I have been stitching away since last night.
This one is my next  bag, and I am doing sashiko on this design with the batting at the back.
That's why the stitch gives the fabric a unique texture.

This is the designed fabric without batting.  See how the fabric stays flat.
I like it like this as well, but I will use the batting for the main parts of the bags as it will give more feature to the bag.

This is the second design with grey base fabric.
Most thread I use are for sashiko, but I do use normal embroidery thread for colours I don't have.

new colourful shoulder bag

This is the "Rakugaki" shoulder bag.

There is one zipper pocket at the back.

There are two pockets and one zipper pocket inside.
The inner fabric is the asian print fabric.

There are two pockets a the front.

The strap can change length, and has few patches of different colour fabrics.

These are 4 new spectacle cases for men.

Bags for exhibition

I am currently busy making bags for the "Ulala" exhibition.
It will open on 23rd & 24th Oct, 10 - 16:00 at 22 Gwilliam Dr, Bibra Lake, WA.
It is a small event organised by a group of Japanese women who enjoy hand craft.

Here are pictures of some of the items which I will be selling at the exhibition.

I know it's not enough, so I will have to work really hard!
